Brand Marketing, April 2001

Getting a brand recognized by consumers can be a major challenge, but getting consumers to recall it from memory for your particular industry or product is much more daunting a task.

Budweiser has managed to accomplish that daunting task because it is the number one brand name in top of mind awareness. After repetitive reinforcement of a name and logo, people will begin to accept and become more familiar with the brand or product.

Brand Awareness

Brand Institute's data for the 4th quarter of 2000 show that Budweiser, Coors and Miller are the three most recognized alcoholic beverage brands in North America. The awareness level of the leading brand Budweiser is more than three times that of its closest competitor Coors. The top ten brands shown in the chart above account for approximately 67% of all the responses. The respondents also evaluated brands listed in the alcoholic beverage category on the four key attributes quality, value, brand reputation, and appeal. The results of this evaluation are available at www.brandpoll.com.
