The most-recognized female health-care brand in North America is Premarin. About 17.4% of physicians recognize this brand the most according to a survey conducted by Brand Institute Inc. in third quarter 2004. Composed of conjugated estrogens. Premarin is indicated for the treatment of kraurosic vuvae, atrophic vaginitis, abnormal uterine bleeding, moderate-to-servere vasomotor symptoms associated with menopause vulvar and vaginal atrophy, typerestrogenism, breast cancer, and advanced androgen-dependent carcinoma of the prostate for palliation, and for the prevention of osteoporosis. The product initially was approved in May 1942 and is marketed by Wyeth (wyeth.com).
The second most-recognized female health-care brand in North America is Ortho Tri-Cyclen which 6.8% of physicians recognized the most. Ortho-McNeil Pharmaceutical Inc. (ortho-mcneil.com) markets this product, which was initially approved in July 1992. Ortho Tri-Cyclen is indicated to prevent pregnancy in women and for the treatment of moderate acne vulgaris in females 15 years old or older.
Diflucan is the third most-recognized female health-care brand in North America. About 6.2% of physicians recognized this brand the most. Fluconazole is the active chemical in Diflucan. Diflucan is indicated for the treatment of lungal infections. Diflucan was initially approved in January 1990 and is marketed by Pfizer Inc. (pfizer.com).

The most-recognized female health-care brand in Europe is Canesten. About 13.3% of physicians recognized this brand the most. Canesten creams contain clorimazole, and oral capsules contain fluconazole.
In the United Kingdom, Canesten is indicated for the treatment of fungal infections, including vaginal irritations, cystitis, diaper rash, sweat rash and athlete's foot. The product is marketed by Bayer (bayer.com).
